Yard Storage
Yard storage is the storage of containers in a trucker's gated yard, for which truckers charge a daily fee. It is used when a container cannot be delivered before the Last Free Day, to avoid costly demurrage charges.

Zone Rate
A zone rate is a type of freight rate based on the number of geographic areas that a delivery has to pass through to reach its final destination. The more zones a delivery passes through, the higher the freight rate.

Inside Delivery Fee
An inside delivery fee is assessed by the trucker if they were required to go inside the delivery location (past the front door or loading dock) to pick up or deliver the cargo, or if the delivery requires some form of installation.

Intensive Exam
The Intensive exam is the most thorough Customs exam. If CBP selects a container for an Intensive exam, it is trucked to a Centralized Examination Station (CES) where a Customs officer physically examines the cargo.

An "interest insured" (or "insured interest") is the financial or ownership right that a party, such as an insurance purchaser, has in lost or damaged cargo. These parties may include the cargo owner, the carrier, and others with a financial stake in the cargo.

LCL (Less than Container Load)
LCL (less than container load) is a mode of shipping via ocean, recommended when your shipment isn't large enough to fill an entire container. LCL shipments are consolidated with others into one container.

LTL (Less than Truckload)
LTL (less than truckload) service is used for smaller shipments that take up less than a full truckload and can be combined with other small shipments to fill up a truck.

Letter of Indemnity (LOI)
A Letter of Indemnity (LOI) is a document contractually obligating the shipper to take responsibility for any loss or damage resulting from a breach of contract, such as the terms and conditions of a bill of lading.
